"a perpetual town hall of the people, by the people and for the people."

Manifesto

We propose to create a Council for Humanity to independently advise the Technology Industry on self-regulation in order to create a healthier society. Governing rules shall be pliable, evolvable, and easily adaptable. The council shall be comprised of anyone and everyone with an equal ability to contribute and share ideas that will propel humanity forward. The council will be led by a group of not less than 30 individuals from varying disciplines, emboldened with expertise, from both the private and public sectors. No qualifiers are necessary other than demonstrating the ability to recognize possible hazards, provide equitable solutions, and communicate these ideas effectively. Hazards are deemed to be any substance, practice, or policy that has a significant, or the potential to have a significant adverse effect on the mental or physical well-being of any population.

The Council for Humanity will work in tandem with organizations of all sizes to resolve challenges. Our goals will not be achieved by lobbying and negotiating with industry leaders or government officials, but by engineering solutions as obstacles arise, and cooperating with industry and government to implement resolutions. The council shall be committed to finding the most equitable explication for both humanity and the entities it advises while providing counsel and support in making adjustments to current practices or transitioning to new ones. The Council, comprised of the people, shall articulate and implement the people's desires and needs, to ensure the success of private industry, public policy, and everyone individually.

Due to the pace of exponential growth in technology, the government is too rigid of a mechanism to suitably regulate the ever-changing landscape. Technology is reshaping every facet of our daily lives continuously and shall benefit from an intervening body that is separate from itself but not controlled by any form of government. There shall be a high priority on establishing best practices for god-like powers. The Technology Industry will soon be, if not already, the most effectual industry on our daily lives. The potential for the entire global population to be at the height of its health and wealth is currently within our grasp.

Neither social nor economic status shall have any bearing or influence on decision making, nor preclude or include any individual based on these traits. Equality and equitability are not goals that the Council shall work towards, but the principles the council shall work from. All persons are equal and treated in an equitable manner, qualified only by their deeds. No other traits, other than one’s actions, may render an individual unable to participate in the Council’s works. However, an individual is not required to participate in the Council to reap the benefits of the Council’s works.

The Council shall be funded by public and private donors, contributing under a system of anonymity, that renders the funding source’s influence ineffectual. The Council shall have the greatest public service interface the world has ever enjoyed. No talks shall be private. Every meeting shall be recorded, archived, and broadcast to the public. Live feeds shall be maintained throughout the Council's headquarters as well as on-location during off-site engagements. The entire public should be in the room via any means of communication: print, chat, voice, face-to-face live interfacing, in-person, or otherwise. Conversation shall be ongoing between as many participants as possible: a perpetual town hall of the people, by the people, and for the people. For the first time in our history, simulated or not, an industry has emerged that is nimble enough to bestow power to the people. Technological tools shall afford the people the ability to actively manage the prosperity, longevity, and sustainability of mankind and all reliant living systems. Private industry, government, nor the people can ensure that mankind will survive and thrive on its own, but we can satisfy this desideratum together.

Signed,

Humanity
